The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for the academic year 2013/2014 to provide new, sustainable primary school sports funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on PE and sport provision in schools.
This year Ocker Hill Infants School will receive the sports premium grant.
We intend to spend the money on the following....
- Buying into 'Dancedesk' school sports partnership. This provides a network of support to develop CPD for all staff. It also provides membership to afPE, YST and the National Dance Association for teachers, which secures professional support and additional qualifications.
- Hiring WBA foundation level 2 coaches to work alongside staff in developing the PE curriculum.
- Hiring Epic Dance Academy to show a range of dance expertise and work alongside staff to develop confidence in delivering dance in the curriculum.
- With the remaining sports premium we intend to buy high quality resources, equipment and professional development opportunities for staff.
Our Olympic Legacy
On Tuesday 11th February 2014; Ocker Hill had a great memorable day; An Olympic Athlete came to visit the school. We were very privileged to welcome Grant Turner to Ocker Hill Infant and Nursery School.
Sports for Schools helped to get Grant Turner into our school; He came and gave an inspirational talk, clear introduction and some sporting demonstration; not forgetting Question and Answer session.
This experience was certainly rewarding and memorable for the children who thoroughly enjoyed their time with Grant Turner at their school. We thank you very much for coming to Tipton.
